It also serves as a day to reflect on women's rights movements, bringing attention to issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, and violence and abuse against women. According to Internationalwomensday.com, "The aim of [this year's] 2023 #EmbraceEquity campaign theme is to get the world talking about why women having equal opportunities isn't enough. People start from different places, so true inclusion and belonging require equitable action from the begging."
